According to the National Electrical Code standard of the United States, a cable tray is a unit or assembly of units or sections and associated fittings forming a rigid structural system used to securely fasten or support cables and raceways.
Cable trays are used for providing mechanical protection in an environment where large quantities of power control cables are at work. Besides providing mechanical protection, these cables are also designed to facilitate a perfect routing path for power or control cables.
